This week we’ve experienced many trail condition improvements on Seward Ranger District with the addition of minimal amounts of snow on Sunday/Monday. 2-5” of new snow has improved skiing at lower elevations. And so the story goes that there won’t be a Winter Motorized opening this Saturday on Seward Ranger District. December 1 will quietly come and go as we don’t have any snow at our winter used trailheads, let alone at 2,500’ elevation. The attached photo is near Carter Lake today, elevation 1,500’.
