Seward Area Ranger District - 4/20/20

Seward Ranger District has closed all areas/trails (except Snug Harbor Road, Rainbow Lake access to Lost Lake) to winter motorized use. The past few days of around the clock above freezing temperatures melted the ice layer at a fast clip. The Snug Harbor access to Lost Lake remains open until midnight April 30. Please see attached order and map.

With the rapid melting of snow/ice please refrain from taking your bikes on newly melted trails so as not to create deep tire ruts. Tire ruts on slopes attract water that gains momentum while washing away soils.
